Code Review Sentinel
A review prompt that reports only real defects with file:line evidence, instead of generic praise.
Prompt
Review the code below as a strict staff engineer.
Rules:
- Report ONLY issues you can point to with file:line.
- For each issue give: severity (blocker|major|minor), file:line, why it breaks, concrete fix.
- If you cannot cite a location, do NOT report it.
- Skip style nits and generic praise entirely.
Output format:
| severity | file:line | issue | fix |
Code:
"""
{{ CODE }}
"""
Why it works
Requiring file:line anchors converts the model from “opinion generator” into “evidence reporter”. Hallucinated findings drop sharply because inventing a citation is harder than inventing an opinion.
Tips
- Paste whole files, not fragments — truncated context produces phantom line numbers.
- Run it twice: once as reviewer, once as author defending the code.
